Could Angry Birds 2 Become The Biggest Launch In Gaming History?

I have to admit that when Angry Birds first came out I didn’t think much of it, actually I didn’t even play it for several months after it came out. Even now that Angry Birds has become one of the biggest most successful game franchises in the industry, I have not played more than 8 hours worth of the game.

If fact, I had no intentions of playing the game at all, but during a business trip to Las Vegas I was sitting at the airport and had nothing to do so I searched through iTunes and downloaded the most popular game on there.

That game of course was the popular flying birds game the world has become obsessed over.

I spent the next three plus hours playing the game on the plane, then played some more later that night after settling in at my hotel room and put in a little more game time on the flight back but that was it. That was the last time I played the game.

At the time, I recognized the fun and potential of the game but didn’t see what the big deal was all about. It was fun and it was pretty on the phone but that’s where the flaw was for me. I didn’t really enjoy gaming on my iPhone so that was the end of my Angry Birds play.

It seems that I may be the only person in the world that the fun of Angry Birds has flow over his head. I just read an interesting article that lays out the idea that Angry Birds 2 could be the biggest single launch in video game history.

WOW.

Angry Birds has managed to to go global with it becoming a download hit everywhere the birds land. In time I think that Angry Birds and it’s success will force game publishers to take a hard look at the industry with its giant marketing and development budgets and try to duplicate the success of this seemingly simple game that has taken the world by storm.
